I've never been but...

... I'm not sick of hearing about it. It's been my own personal choice to not go and I respect other's, almost religious, fervor for it. My reason for not going is simple: I satisfy that need for self expresion and inspiration and any other experience that may be incurred at BM, on a smaller scale, by going to a different desert gathering. Yes, I'm terribly curious, in general, and I hope to go one of these years but up until now I have not been interested enough to make the comittment and arduous preparation to go. I'm even a Nevada resident now! I moved to Las Vegas about a month and a half ago and I wouldn't have had the obligations of family or work (I'm no longer married and my kids live with their mother and I'm not working at the moment) but still I was not psyched about it.

I enjoy interacting with the little sprouts. When I homesteaded in Klamath County the whole northwest kit n' kaboodle used to drive past my farm. What a great circus..that has outgrown itself. I hung with the Nitronic Research peeps in the '90's---and the deal had humor, passion for technical progress..and ludditism..plus it was done on a sustainable scale. I worked the Field Trips in Oregon a few years prior; saw first hand (doing first aid) what an anarchic site with 30,000 stoned campers is capable of. No thanks! I always liked what Tomata DuPlenty did with Survival...putting it out there for the public is fine. But this...this thing..as an annual neo-hippie version of Sturgis just reeks. Let's remember the mirth and reverence that spawned the orig...and kill off the commercial rotting veggie we have today. Give me a clean and sober 'acid test' model, anyday.
